Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

Explore Bandhavgarh, Madhya Pradesh

Spread over 700+ sq kms of undulating forests, steep ravines and meadows, Bandhavgarh gets its name from a prominent hill which was said to be gifted by Lord Rama to his brother Laxman to keep a watch on Lanka (Bandhav + Garh). The idol of Sheshshaiya (Sleeping Vishnu) rests atop Kila Bandhogarh in the Tala zone.

The park was given by the Maharaja of Rewa to the Indian govt to create the national park. There have been white tigers in the park previously, the last known called Mohan, and its believed that all white tigers globally trace their roots to Bandhavgarh.
